Submission to the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario in response to Draft Policies on Establishing and Ending Physician-Patient Relationships
Ontario is currently facing a shortage of physicians. Many people do not have family doctors and many find it difficult to access the medical services they need. As a result, the College of Physicians and Surgeons is developing policies to guide physicians about making decisions to admit new patients and to end existing physician-patient relationships. ARCH made a submission to the College on these draft policies. In our submission we explained that lack of access to physicians impacts not only the health of people with disabilities, but also their access to government programs and services. We urged the College to ensure that the policies explain physicians’ human rights.
