Services for Individuals
ARCH provides the following services directly to people with disabilities in Ontario:
ARCH provides free, confidential legal advice and information in the following areas of law as they relate to disability:
- Abuse of people with disabilities in certain contexts
- Accessibility laws
- Attendant services
- Legal Capacity – the right to make your own decisions
- Discrimination/ human rights
ARCH provides this service most often over the telephone. If, because of your disability, you prefer to communicate in another way, please contact us and we will do our best to accommodate your request. When you call, ARCH staff will speak with you and take down the details of your problem. If we can help you at ARCH, a telephone appointment with an ARCH staff lawyer will be booked for you. Should more than telephone advice be required, we will discuss the next steps with you.
ARCH provides legal representation to people with disabilities whose cases meet the priorities set by ARCH’s Board of Directors and who meet Legal Aid Ontario’s financial eligibility guidelines. For more information about ARCH’s current priority areas, please contact us or see the toolbar to the left.
If we are unable to assist you directly, we will do our best to refer you to other appropriate services.
Visit the LAO site to see if you meet Legal Aid Ontario’s financial eligibility guidelines.
